the sleep(less) study

i spent the night at the hospital last night to do a sleep study.
i had electrodes stuck to my head (disgusting goopy electrodes in the hair... ugh! took 3 shampoos to get it all out of my hair this morning), on my face, on my chest, on my side, straps across my chest and my abdomen, electrodes on my legs, tiny tubes up my nose, a red glowing oxygen monitor on my finger...
i had so many wires, i looked like the queen alien from the movie.
or maybe john travolta a la that other movie. yeah. you know the one. the really really bad horrible alien one.

and then i was expected to sleep.
really?

needless to say, i didn't get very good sleep.
everytime i shifted, one of the wires tugged and jolted me awake.
not to mention the fact that they had a one-way intercom on the entire night.
i don't consider myself to be a totally private person, but the idea of someone listening to me sleep totally creeped me out.

so now i'm wondering what kind of reliable data they really got.
if i didn't really sleep, how can they tell me anything about my sleep... except for the fact that i don't sleep well... which was the reason for the sleep study in the first place... and you see where this is going.

my geekiness hasn't faded away...

i LOVE bands. and everything associated with bands. drill team... cheerleaders... band shows... i know. it's hopeless.

anyway, here's a little clip.
from my alma mater, glendale high school.
the video quality sucks, but i think they're so cute.
it's the all male dance team.

she thinks she's going to contribute to society by being an elitist bitch...

An Attorney? Contribute to Society?

Hobo to girl with two bags and seven textbooks: Damn, girl, where you goin' wid all dem books? You rob a Barnes and Noble or somethin'? You tryin'a sell your shit, too? Yeah, you know how it is...
Girl: No, I've actually spent the last 18 hours in the library studying for my law school exams so I can become an attorney and contribute to society. But I'm sure you know all about that.
Hobo: Yeah, law school ain't work out for me, neither. How much you sellin' that New York Peen... Penal... Oh, shit! You learn about dicks and clits and shit in law school?!

what the hell is wrong with this picture?

this girl on mtv got a freaking parade for her 16th birthday.
a freaking parade!?!?!?
not to mention the hairdresser, the designer dress, emannuel lewis delivering invites, jermaine dupris introducing her to the party, a private concert from g-unit, and a mercedes benz.

i'm sure these parents just love their daughter... but seriously. what kind of a monster are they creating? can we all say self-indulgence overflow????

but i guess i'm the dumbass for even watching the show to begin with. i'm contributing to the mtv craze. i'm always infinitely annoyed when i see the show, but i can't help but watch. it's like a bad train wreck. can't help but rubberneck.

a little clip from my wedding. a friend put it up for me (he's one of the dancers), and he swears he'll eventually take it down.

a chill in the air

the freakish warm spell has finally broken, and ithaca has met winter once again.
25degrees, but with windchill - more like 9 or 10...

i'm not really complaining. we managed to get through november and december with magnificent warm weather.
my body's just having a tough time adjusting from 70 degrees to 25...
