wrapping things up...

so my time in cleveland is dwindling down...
i'm about to make my last drive from ithaca to cleveland to pack up the rest of my stuff and leaving there permanently next tuesday.
i shouldn't be so weirded out by this move, really... it's not like this is the first time i've just packed up from a place and left. that's how it was going to college... that's how it was leaving college... that's how it was going to law school... and i guess that's how it is leaving law school.
there's something liberating about the fact that i CAN just pick up and go anywhere... but that's a freedom that i'm about to lose. with paul in my life now, i can't pack up a car and leave on a whim. i can't decide to move to another city last minute. i can't change careers on the other coast just because i feel like it. i guess it's all a part of growing up.
is that why people are so afraid of commitment? because with commitment, they lose this incredible sense of independence? they lose the sense of abandonment and all of a sudden, in exchange, you get dumped with a lapful of accountability?
i have to admit... the whole thing is a little scary... but i'm really excited to see what the future brings me.
it'll be wild to wake up in the morning and NOT have to worry about driving back to make an evening class.

but i will be sad to leave behind friends that i've made over the last few years. i never thought it would happen in that godforsaken town, but i think i've really formed a few lasting friendships. who knew. i guess if they're really lasting, then our physical locations won't matter, yes?
i'll believe in that.
