the more specialized education i get, the more i lose grasp of basic skills. like reading... comprehension... vocabulary. sure -- i can probably tell you whether your will is valid. or the difference between larceny and robbery. i can track legislation and summarize bills from all fifty states. but i don't know how to read anymore.
law school teaches you an entirely different language, and a way to read things with some kind of funky x-ray glasses. i guess it's a good thing that i'm really taking this law thing and making it a part of me... literally... but i'm a little disappointed that it's starting to affect the things i've worked so hard to build. i mean... it took YEARS to get to the reading level that i am at... or was at... ?
argggggh... so much frustration.
