birthdays and a homecoming

happy birthday to mom and paul.

paul and i are leaving for california tomorrow on our long-awaited "vacation." i put vacation in quotes because i've never had a completely relaxing homecoming since leaving for college 7 years ago.
this visit is especially important to me, since paul will be accompanying me.

going home was always a solo expedition. i've always been the lone traveler pulled for security checks, the one who's always asked to switch seats with some desperate mother who wants to sit next to her kid, that girl who needs a stranger's kindness to get her bags off the carrel, the pathetic looking one at curbside wondering when her ride is going to come...
you know the drill.

our trip next week is jam packed. we have something lined up for every day that we'll be there. i think we'll need another vacation after we're done with this one.

i'll try to post any newsworthy events in a timely fashion. =)
wish us luck.

oh yeah... the rainbow coalition picture.
do you like that? the photographer spotted me on the courtyard, and seeing that i was the only asian woman in a 30 feet radius, said "oh, she's perfect!" and pulled me into the picture.

i'm glad that cwru is using my likeness for such noble causes... like extorting money from alumni. =)
