after weekends spent wedding planning in philly, we finally found ourselves in ithaca. i found a shirt tucked away in the back of the closet, put on some makeup (which i never wear to work - which is another matter for blogging), put on my high heeled shoes, and went out to celebrate our rare free friday night.
a friend introduced us to a local musical act a couple months ago. virgil cain. he's a cooler version of the one-man band. tons of fun to watch, good cover music, and always good company. we were joking that it was too bad we didn't find him before we booked our band for the wedding. i'm sure it would have been tons cheaper too. haha. oh well. maybe for paul's graduation party.
and booze... oh the booze.
i should have learned from law school that a resolve to get drunk + fruity martinis never result in a good morning after. i was going to blame paul for not cutting me off, but really... the man didn't have a chance. poor boy. he had to deal with a drunken me in the wee hours of the morning. i was told this morning (when i finally could speak without feeling nauseous) that i wanted to sleep on the stairs.
anyway, i had a great time last night (or at least, what i remember of it).
i'm sure i said inappropriate things to all kinds of people. i'm sure i'll be reminded of my stupidity and promptly regret the whole night.
so here are my conclusions for the night:
1. never let the bartender surprise you with drinks
2. fruity martinis in excess of 2 = no good
3. good music and good company are fantastic ingredients for a good time
4. i shouldn't think i can drink like i used to. i'm getting older
5. hangovers suck
6. but even hangovers are worth it for a good time
okay. wow. cloudy day in my head.
will post more once i have a clearer grasp of reality.
